Why is America unable to solve its racial dilemma? Randy Blazak, the chair of Oregon’s Coalition Against Hate Crimes, will discuss the psychological and sociological roots of racism. The talk will address some of the key dynamics that drive not only bias crimes, but mainstream resistance to moving towards racial equity. This includes issues like binary thinking, implicit bias, and the fear of change. Strategies to reduce bias will also be discussed. (Public)
