The last three years have seen a dramatic increase in reported bias crimes as well as a renewed level of activism from organized hate groups. This includes increased attacks on LGBT people as well as an alarming rise in attacks on houses of worship. This presentation discusses some of the reasons for this new wave of bias as well as effective ways that communities can respond. Research shows that bias crimes and incidents can traumatize wide communities, therefore the ultimate goal is to make marginalized more secure.
